Framing – Week 6 Completed

The framers finished up this Saturday. The cornice crew will start on Tuesday. They will finish the sheathing, apply the facia, and install all of the Masaranduba to the soffits and porches. When cornice is finished, the decking crew will install the roof decking in a day. Then the roofer will come and install the roof paper and we will be dried in and ready for plumbing and electric.

We raised this window a bit to improve the view. Originally it was difficult to judge because the platform wasn’t built. Thanks for the great suggestion Dennis!

Masaranduba

Check out our Masaranduba for all of the soffits, covered porches, and office deck. This stuff is heavy and indestructable. It has a class A fire rating (the same as stone) and will last 25+ years if left untreated. I can’t wait to sit on my back porch and have this overhead, beautiful.

Uncle John’s Security Smack Down

Uncle John recommended some security measures to minimize loses to the banditos. I found some galvanized chain link panels on craigslist. I bought these from the Veterans Administration/IRS/Us Treasury compound in South Austin. It was quite an ordeal, I had to go through numerous security gates, get an ID then walk forever down a bunch or corridors. But I finally got them loaded up and home. I bought a bunch of 12’X8′ panels, man were they cheap. They are providing security for now, but when the house is done they will be Shannon’s garden fence to keep the deer out. Thanks for the great suggestion Uncle John!!!

Framing – Week 2

After changing the plans and engineering, we now have enough room to run HVAC ducts to every room. This delayed the floor trusses and LVLs, but after a few days of waiting they were delivered.
